I have been wanting to do this for a very long time. Anyone that knows me knows that I love to write, and to be in this career and now have a platform to reach out to my clients, and anyone that wants to learn about financial planning is an amazing feeling.
To start off my blog, I think it’s important to talk about my “why” as a financial advisor. I’m delighted to tell you, there are a lot of them.
Why #1: My Dad
In 2017 I made a big career change. I left my communications career to become a licensed financial advisor. Why? Because of my dad. Dad was in the financial services sector for 50 years (yes, you read that correctly, 5-0) and after a truly outstanding career, I felt compelled to be the person to carry that legacy forward.

Why #2: My Clients
Since my first days as advisor to now, I have gone from carrying on someone’s legacy to building a financial planning practice I can truly call my own. There have been so many amazing moments that my clients have given me without even knowing it. I truly love being a part of their lives, watching their kids grow up, being a “phone a friend” to bounce around ideas, or sometimes just being someone to lend an ear.
Why #3: The Challenge
I get to work with great people. They are world class experts in their respective fields of wealth management, tax planning, estate planning and insurance and they’re all-around top-notch humans. The landscape in all these areas is always changing and the challenge to keep up is always there and always welcome.
It really is an honour to be able to do what I do, and I know firsthand why Dad loved his career so much. Seven years down, only 43 more to go.
